The back entrance opens to a cement block corridor and from there the drop off, central processing, and jail are to the right; records is to the left.[3] This hallway's referred to as "Blue Alley" since arrested suspects are escorted through it to intake, it's come to also refer to crimes and other situations that are not out of the ordinary.[12]
Second Floor[]
The squad room, locker room, and Homicide and Internal Affairs are at the top of the curving stairs.[3] The latter two departments are largely cubicles
Third Floor[]
The new forensics lab and evidence lockup are on the third floor[3] with the lab at the end of the hall and evidence behind a heavy steel door marked "EVIDENCE - AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ONLY." There are tens of thousands of pieces of evidence at any given time referenced by case number. In the back there are tables and chairs.[13]
