Nyx is a vampire mated to the Jackal and the two of them are the main characters of the first book of the Black Dagger Brotherhood: Prison Camp series, The Jackal, by JR Ward.
Biography[]
Nyx is the granddaughter of Diedrich, and the older sister of Janelle and Posie. Nyx believes that Janelle was falsely accused of murder and has been trying for years to find where the prison is and to break her out. She is able to find the prison with the help of Peter at the beginning of The Jackal, where she meets The Jackal, Kane, Apex, Lucan, and Mayhem. They help her to get to the Wall to find out if her sister is deceased.
After seeing Janelle's name on the Wall, the group forms a new plan to help her escape the prison and return to her life. During this escape attempt, they are all caught. It is revealed that Janelle is The Command and is alive. Kane sacrifices himself and causes the prison to start to cave in. During the chaos, The Jackal forces Nyx to escape.
After her escape, she goes to the King for help and goes back to find The Jackal. He is found alive and tells her that The Command is dead. A reunion at the house reveals that Peter is also Janelle's son. Nyx and The Jackal are ready to start their lives together with Peter.
She never tells her family that Janelle became The Command and was still alive, only that Janelle was already deceased before she got there.
Personality[]
"She was the older, responsible one, black-haired and brusque like their father had been." -Nyx describing herself[1]
She's a fixer, she finds herself fixing a lot of problems with her family, primarily with Posie.[1] She's reckless, stubborn, and doesn't listen.
Physical Description[]
She smells of fresh flowers. She has long black hair, tied back in a ponytail or braid. Her eyes are the color of Brandy.
Abilities[]
She can dematerialize in high stress situations.
Relationships[]
Posie[]
Nyx and Posie seem to have a good sisterly relationship. Nyx is aware of how caring Posie is, much to her frustration, but accommodates her nonetheless.[1]
Janelle[]
Janelle's relationship with Nyx was good prior to the prison. After Janelle discovers that The Jackal and Nyx are fated mates, she becomes unhinged and is willing to kill her sister.
Diedrich[]
They had a good relationship before Nyx found out that Diedrich had turned Janelle in for the murder. Nyx strongly believed in her sister's innocence and after finding out their grandfather turned her in, she is more resolved to rescue Janelle and take her sisters away from their grandfather.[2] After the events that occurred in the prison camp, Nyx and Diedrich's relationship is fixed and they are on good terms again.
The Jackal[]
The Jackal and Nyx meet when she breaks into the prison in search of her sister, Janelle. There's immediate sexual attraction. They are quick to argue due to Nyx's stubbornness. She also gets jealous when hints are dropped that The Jackal is involved with a female, though she is unaware that it is against his will and he hates her. Despite finding out that her sister was raping The Jackal and this resulted in a son, their bond is strong and doesn't waiver. The Jackal, Nyx, and Peter have a happy family reunion after Nyx goes back to rescue him from the prison.
