"The Directrix stood in the doorway, her stare suspicious. With a book of some sort in one hand and a strand of black worship pearls in the other, she was the perfect representation of the Chosen's proper purpose and calling."

-Cormia[1]

Known only by her title, the Directrix is the head of the order that serves the Scribe Virgin and is the main antagonist of the fifth book of The Black Dagger Brotherhood series, Lover Unbound, by JR Ward.

Biography[]

In the absence of a Primale, the Directrix ruled the Chosen with an iron fist by punishing anyone who dared exhibit any qualities she deemed inappropriate, including experiencing any negative emotions such as fear.[1]

The Primale and his primary mate are the only vampires in the Sanctuary that hold a higher status in the hierarchy than the Directrix. When the Scribe Virgin announced Vishous as the new Primale and Cormia as his primary mate, the Directrix attempted to eliminate the threat to her power by killing Vishous.

The new Primale, Phury, discovered the gun she'd used on Vishous and brought his findings to the Scribe Virgin. Her ultimate fate is unknown since V had wished her dead and Phury assured him that she was as good as.

Personality[]

While the Directrix doesn't appear very often or for very long, when she does, she is demanding, critical, and utterly lacking in empathy. Any perceived challenge to her authority is met with either passive-aggressive antipathy[2] or outright violence if she thinks she can get away with it.

Physical Description[]

No physical description is given of her save for the white dress that all the Chosen wear[1] and the medallion of her office that acts as a key to buildings such as the Treasury and the Temple of the Primale.[3]

Trivia[]

  • In her murder attempt on Vishous, she used a gun from the Treasury to which only she and the Primale have keys.
